    Bang Goes

DJ Bang Goes is a Zurich-based techno producer and DJ since the earliest days of the Swiss techno scene, where he has been active since the early nineties. His various productions on Bruchstücke Records, Stattmusik, GS and WasWotsch are mostly lively and the playful-groovy kind of minimal and tech house. His mixing technique is unique and drivingly humorous. His style is varying, but sexy and always positively pumping. He is also a member of the cult live duo «Die galoppierende Zuversicht» and is known for his driving and spooky live acts at home and abroad. He has also worked for many years as a sound designer and musician in the Swiss film scene and since 1999 he runs the renowned recording studio Zentralton GmbH, which also operates as a label for radio plays in collaboration with Dr Lüdi (Andres Lutz). He works for Open Broadcast as a musiceditor for electronic music and created all the jingles and station IDs for the popular DAB+ radio station.

Her journey began with minimal house – characterized by stripped-back beats and a lasting love for vinyl, which continues to shape her sets today. • Jimi Tenor
    Jimi Tenor

Jimi Tenor is a Finnish composer and musician. He had done more than 15 solo albums and many collaboration albums where he is the main composer. Collaborations with: UMO Heslinki Jazz Orchestra, Tony Allen, Edward Vesala, Kabukabu, Freestyle Man, Jori Hulkkonen, Nicole Willis, Timmion Records (Soul Investigators), Maurice Fulton, Khan Of Finland, Lary 7, DJ Sotofett.

Having disbanded Jimi Tenor And His Shamans, the artist embarked on a solo career in the early 1990s, recording his debut work “Sahkomies” on rudimentary equipment in a small New York apartment. The album was released in 1994 on the Finnish imprint Sahko that also issued Tenor’s sophomore work “Europa” a year later, expanding on the ideas articulated on the first disc.

On the back of a game-changing performance at the Love Parade in Berlin, Jimi Tenor scored his first hit with “Take Me Baby”, entering the charts and signing a deal with the seminal electronic label Warp Records. The three Warp albums – “Intervision” (1997), “Organism” (1999) and “Out Of Nowhere” (2000) – were touchstones in the electronic club music scene of the period. Efortlessly blending jazz, synthesizer sounds, Afrobeats and drum machine dubs, Jimi Tenor created a distinctive sound which he himself rewired and renewed. Not that his compositions were overly academic, on the contrary – they often resembled free-flowing, sporadic sketches, with an infectiously irrepressible touch of the absurd.

As a soloist Jimi Tenor has appeared mostly as a flute player, sometimes also saxophone. Some guest appearances: Nightmares on Wax, Malla, Dalindeo.

Jimi started his career in Jimi Tenor & His Shamans playing industrial music. The group was inspired by the Italian futurist Luigi Russolo, Japanese drumming ensembles and industrial noise music.

  • Kalabrese
    Kalabrese

kalabrese is one of the more glittering characters in zurichs music scene and mingling at the frontline as dj, producer and as co-owner of the legendary club zukunf. through his very own style as a producer sacha winkler caused a stir outside of switzerland. kalabrese debut album «rumpelzirkus» is a great piece of music. it rumbles and works the funk organically and song oriented and recevied good reviews in the independent dance-scene all around the world in 1997. the 2nd album “independent dancer” came out in may 2013 more and more you can hear the signature of kalabrese sound and his unique songwriting with vocals of him self and guest singers (khan from berlin, sarah palin from zurich). “independent dancer” is a journey into different world, very lightfull and positiv and allways funky. radiostations like kcrw in america or sonica ibiza played regulary times songs of the independent dancer album. spotify playlists with plays over 10millions and over 250k-regular members helped also to spread kalabreses non-perfect dance groove in the last year all over the planet. In the middle of the Pandemic kalabrese finds his way back to ease, regaining the rumpelfunk and finalized two new albums. “let love rumpel part 1” and “let love rumpel part 2”. its a marvelously light, warm dance. the music goes to the hip and to the heart and automatically we start to dance. from the very first bars it’s clear, that kalabrese developed his very own signature sound which feels like coming home and diving into the rumpel universe again. not to be missed, there is underton of sadness; delightfully melancholic. kalabrese and his rumpelorchestra is a great stage experience for clubs and festival. over the years the band perfomed regulary and built a base for their extendend hypnotic live-sound. the fantastic players with bass, synths, horns and the funky livedrums of kalabrese himself and his punky-moody-voice on top find a deeper connection to the audience. the band can go for a long improvisation and bring it jazzy, funky and let the rumpel-tribe celebrated. kalabrese played with his band 2022 for garbicz festival for an enthusiastic international crowd. the summer ended with rockin the sunset fort the letten-river fest in zurich with over 1000 people and performing the complet crowded kirchplatz-stage for the winterthurer musikfestwochen.

kalabrese was currently spinning records in mexico, argentina, urugay, chile and is resident of papaya playa in tulum and yuyu in mexico city. his tour ended end of january 2024 with a fantastic b2b in new york with acid pauli. kalaspatz will beginn in march with the work on a new album with the titel “golden hour”.

Playlove, Les Belles de Nuit, Zürich

Galaxies of Sound. The speakers are the canvas onto which Vienna-born Playlove has been projecting her colours and shapes into the universe since 1999. Blue basslines make the voice coils glow red with joy, shimmering acid lines like UFOs glide through the atmosphere and loop in delight! Hi-hats explode like fireworks, sparkling in every hue, propelling the airy, driving groove of her sets. Meandering melodic loops orbit like planets around the central star – the pulsar – which dictates the unwavering timing of a mighty rhythm. Sonic shrapnel, like stardust, condenses into luminous clouds, from which, at the break, tones rain in ultraviolet and infrared, unfurling metallic rainbows over the dancefloor.

    Sintič & MRZ

Sintič & MRZ have been playing their way into the hearts of dancers in this city for around seven years. Just watching them makes you want to dance. They are colourful and unpredictable and that is exactly what makes them special. Moritz is very playful with a tendency to a beautiful form of crazyness; Sinta on the other hand likes to hit aces, and this preferably double-handed. Both of them mostly look prettyhappy at work, which transmits to the audience.

    Azu Tiwaline

Azu Tiwaline is an artist creating new worlds for us all to hear and see each other within. Conjuring a sense of cosmic belonging within life’s maelstrom, her music is an extension of her being transformed into abundant rhythmical energy – beloved for her wonderful ability to channel vast inner realms into the outward joys of dance & movement.

With an extraordinary musical vision firmly rooted in the freeing kinetics of Soundsystem psychedelia, her vibrations bring vivid influence from the El Djerid desert & her Tunisian heritage into communication with the transcendent spatial awareness of dub and the grooving, dynamic exuberance of techno. Uniting these spellbinding elements into an alchemic synthesis, she conducts Saharan frequencies into eclectic, entrancing rhythms with a nimble & profound elegance – contrasting microcosms of light & darkness immersed in mercurial depths, ecstatic percussive intonations, & the breathtaking enchantment of bass weight pressure.

It’s within this expansive palate that Azu can weave entire multiverses of sensation together – establishing herself as one of the most exciting entities in a groundbreaking zone of contemporary electronic producers, while invoking a bewitching sonic experience that is uniquely all her own.

  • Eli Verveine
    Eli Verveine

Eli Verveine is a DJ, live artist and producer at the height of her powers.

As a DJ, Eli Verveine is widely respected for her ability to build her own dancefloor wherever she is in the world. Always engaged with the crowd, Eli sees communication as integral to the art of DJing: whether it’s warm-up, peak-time or after-hours, she captures the collective energy and applies just the right doses of drama and restraint until every dancer is locked into a unified groove. Eli’s versatile blend of genres and moods has brought her to some of the most iconic stages around, from the clubs Bassiani, Panoramabar, Fabric and Closer to the festivals Garbicz, Rainbow Disco Club, Waking Life, and delivering the prestigious closing set at Organik Festival in Taiwan. She has a B2B project, Among Trees, with Andrey Pushkarev.

As a live performer, Eli Verveine collaborates with Berlin-based DJ/musician Gwenan on the experimental live project Gin & Tonic. With a setup combining modular synthesis, drum machines, effects pedals and more, the duo tease variegated musical textures out of extended improvisations. This open-ended approach, grounded in close listening and a strong mutual understanding between the two, leads to intriguing musical dialogues in which the machines do the talking. Performances have included Garbicz and Waking Life festivals, and specialist listening events including their own dedicated Aether series in Berlin, co-founded with ISH.

As a producer, Eli Verveine’s discography stretches back to the Ness EP (2012) on Tardis Records, the label she runs with Oscar Schubaq. In 2023, she released the track ‘Morning Dub’, on a VA from Chateau Chépère, and ‘Reverie’, a track resulting from a project with school children in Basel. Eli has been having a lot of fun in the studio, so we can expect more solo material on the way.

  • Marylou
    Marylou

Marylou grew up on the shores of the south west of France, between Soundsystem culture and surf. She studied painting and cinema, which still influences all of her work and way of mixing her sound scenarios. But it’s once in Paris that she became the nerdy head on the dance floor and started to write for music and organise parties, Bastion, and collect records. She became an in-demand artwork maker for labels such as Jamal Moss Mathematics, Kassem Mosse Ominira or Youth. She went from advising her friends in their studios to the desks in a short time and became a resident a Rinse France, where she crafted her style and then played in the best curated clubs Paris had to offer: Concrete, La Machine, La Station, Silencio. She moved to Berlin 5 years ago, assisting Rabih Beaini for his label Morphine, and then helped him build his now worldwide renowned Morphine Raum, Mecca for improv music artists to record and play live. Her sound is much tainted by all these influences, from auteur cinema to painting, from improv and noise to her love for dance.

One of the true unsung heroes of UK techno, Miles Sagnia aka Miles Atmospheric is as much a mesmerising presence behind the DJ booth as he is in the studio. • Move D
    Move D

Move D, aka David Moufang, is one of modern electronic musicʼs most beloved souls with a long and varied musical history with roots in the 60s and 70s jazz, psychedelic, rock, soul and early electronica. Making his first appearance on vinyl as part of a school bands competition in 1983, it was only another four years before he started toying with the medium as a DJ, playing funk, soul, hip-hop, and proto-house. In the 90s things began to move fast with the inception of his Source Records imprint, early productions (including the debut Move D LP ʼKunststoffʼ – Source Records, 1994) and the beginnings of a 26 album relationship with a closefriend, the late Pete Namlook. Since then, Moufang has become an unassuming heavyweight in house music as a producer for countless forward-thinking labels, a collaborator and a truly original selector. His discography is long and impressive and holds releases on a broad variety of labels such as Source, Modern Love, Workshop, Smallville, Warp, Running Back, Uzuri and Electric Minds among others plus collaborations and involvements in projects like Magic Mountain High (w. Juju & Jordash) and Reagenz (w. Jonah Sharp). Not one to slack off, his live and DJ performances have been on par with (if not superior to) his studio work, pulling from all corners of his diverse catalog to create an experience that attacks the hips and head in equal measure. His releases touch on house conventions but are delivered in his inimitable style, leaving everyone – from long-time fans to the uninitiated – with their jaws on the floor and their hands in the air.

  • Princess P
    Princess P

It’s in the nature of things, that working in a recordshop, trains the knowledge of music. After all, access to a seemingly never-ending pool of new releases, new editions and purchased collections forms the ideal basis for continually developing and refining one’s own taste in music. If you listen and look at Princess P, who lives in Bern, at her work behind the turntables, it quickly becomes clear that she has enjoyed an excellent (listening) education: for years she worked for Plattfon Records in Basel, one of the pearls of swiss recordstores, and helped shape the store’s musical agenda in buying and selling.

Accordingly, she selects records in every context with aplomb, surprise and flexibility, which bear witness to her genre-independent expertise: whether at zurich’s club institution Zukunft, Elysia in Basel or during the Montreux Jazz Festival. Aware of the musical foundations of the past, but always firmly anchored in the here and now and eagerly awaiting what comes next. Her DJ sets are based on savoury house with a touch of indie and techno. And, as anyone with an adventurous disposition knows, the detour is often rewarded with a more beautiful view off the beaten track.

Since 2020 Princess P runs together with Cio from Spezialmaterial a monthly sheduled Residency on Mutant Radio Tiblisi. They mostly play Music atside the Dancefloor.

  • Snur
    Snur

Dancing to electronic music illuminated my darkened soul in the early ’90s – like a religious revelation. Back when this culture had no World Heritage label and thrived under the radar of justice and commerce, celebrating its wildest era, freed from social norms, my manga fins plowed through bass-flooded basements and muddy puddles in abandoned gravel pits. The dancefloor has remained my holiest place ever since – subversive, powerful, and infused with love. As a vinyl DJ, my musical selection is limited. I find the ideal path together with my crowd. Their bodies and expressions are my guides through the energy patterns in the room. The magic within feels unlimited, like a journey through infinity.

Suzybee is an artist, animator and VJ. She co-founded the Mindtours label and is co-organiser of the Freerotation Festival with Steevio. As a traditionally trained artist, Suzybee hand-draws her animations. She mixes them live with abstract layers and effects in Resolume, to produce beautiful moving images, synched to Steevio’s music. Her deep care for our planet and its ecology has inspired many of her animations, envisioning a harmony between humans, nature and all Beings. Suzybee and Steevio’s live AV performance is unique. It is a perfectly synched fusion of positive and soulful music and imagery, performed by two artists who are dedicated to dance music and its message of empathy.

XDB is Kosta Athanassiadis – German-born with Greek roots, raised in Göttingen, where he began DJing in the early ’90s and founded the Metrolux label in 2006. His first releases, like the ‘Jackintosh EP’ and ‘Descap EP’, caught attention for their dub techno elements, but his sound quickly proved resistant to easy categorisation. A vinyl collector since childhood, he’s been spinning records since 1993, building a reputation through club and festival appearances worldwide. Kosta’s DJ sets are rooted in selection rather than flash – spanning the full spectrum of quality electronic music, always putting the tracks first. Known for his understated style and preference for a 3-deck setup, his mixes have earned ‘Mix of the Day’ status on Resident Advisor. His long-running relationship with Freerotation in Wales started in 2010 and cemented his place among like-minded artists who let the music speak for itself. He’s a regular at respected festivals like Houghton, Waking Life and Lighthouse, given time to craft immersive sets. Production-wise, Kosta favours quality over quantity, with releases on Sistrum, Ferox and Dial Records, including his 2020 debut album Inspiron.
